I am looking for my great grandpa's grave site. His name is John Burns and he died on Aug. 15, 1949. He supposely was buried at the Mt. Olivet Cemetary. My grandma who was 10 when he died, did not think he had a tombstone. Is there any possible way to find him? Looking at census records and other resources, it looks like he lived in Robertson County all his life. He actually lived on Kentontown Pike, which I assume would be US 62. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Rob Cooper

My brick wall regards Wards and Floras born in Nicholas County. I'm looking for information on two wives of Gabriel Ward, both of whom were most likely born in Nicholas County, about 1850. One wife may be Lucinda Flora, born in Nicholas Co to James and Penelope Flora. There was a twin sister, Lucretia. I can't find any info that verifies Lucinda's marriage, birth of any children, particularly a son Francis M b. 1867, or her death, about 1867. The second wife gave birth to William Firman Ward, 1874, and most likely Louvenia Ward (she married Teager Wilmington Razor). This wife must have died about 1877. Our family comes down from William Firman, and I thank you in advance for any info regarding his parents!

I'm looking for a grave or anything for the name of Iva (McCord)Snapp, she died on or around April 10, 1910, she was 23 years of age, and according to the Mather's and Gaunce Funeral Home List of coffins it has E.S. Snapp that purchased it. Her name is Iva May McCord Snapp, she was the wife of Erastus(Tus) Snapp. I had put this on the Nicholas message board a few years back, but no one knew that Erastus even had a wife and 2 daughters, so its been a mystery. I have been looking everywhere for her grave or anything about her, this is my husbands great-grandmother. Any help would be appreciated

I am Rose McFarland of Kennewick, WA. I came across your website and was immediately captured! My husband, John McFarland, is the grandson of Clyde Rupert Lucas and Pearl May Harrington. Pearl was the daughter of Charles William Herrington and Susan Nancy Whorls of Cynthiana, KY. As far as I can tell, I believe Charles was the son of Henry Herrington and Nancy Florence. As you can see, these names coincide with the names on your web site. I have been at a dead end for some time now on the Harrington/Herrington line. What little I have has been picked up from bits and pieces of family information and the name of Charles Herrington's father was from his death certificate as well as his mother's maiden name of Florence. (No first name was given for her, but I believe it to be Nancy Florence) Charles Herrington and Nancy Susan "Susie" Whorles had five children: Minnie Lee, Hannah Janie, Pearl May, Mary Ann (married Claus Ulm) and William Elias. Susie disappeared from the family before 1910. I don't know if she died or left, but she was not on the 1910 Census or any Census thereafter. Pearl was living with an Emma Buckler in Franklin Co., IN in 1910 and Charles, Mary Ann and William Elias were in Hamilton Co., OH. When William Elias Herrington registered for the draft in WWI, he was living with his "Uncle Elias" and Pearl was living with an Emma Buckler in Franklin Co., IN. If any of these names ring a bell, I would love to talk to you. Sincerely, Rose

My brick wall is Andrew Jackson Ramey - Jack Ramey. He was born around 1823 or 1825 and lived in Harrison County, Pendleton County (1870), Nicholas County - Headquarters (1880) and Robertson County (1893) He had a brother named Henry and a brother named Francis. He was in the Union Army (enlisted in Cynthiana). He was married to Delilah Buckler in Fleming County in 1851. They had the following children: James, Francis, Marian, Sarah, Andrew Jr., William Sherman (my grandfather) and George. Delilah died before 1880 and Jack remarried. One of his wives was Nancy Shaw. He had another son, Nathaniel (not sure who his mother was). I believe he is buried in the Barterville Cemetery (died 1908?). If anyone has any records about the Barterville Cemetery or info about Jack Ramey please contact me. I'm searching for his parents names and also would like to know what happened to his children. I do know that his son, George Ramey, lived all his life around Carlisle.
If you have any connection to this family please e-mail me at [email protected].

I am looking for the parents of Abraham Brown, born 17 Aug. 1818 in either Bath or Nicholas County, KY. He married Elizabeth Hensey Feb 25, 1847 in Nicholas County. Two of his children are buried somewhere in Nicholas, and they died in 1861 and 1864 respectively. The Browns left Nicholas County in 1869-70 and moved to Rush County, Indiana. In the History of Rush County, published in the late 1880's, Abraham is said to have come from a "pioneer" family in Kentucky, but there are so many Browns in the Nicholas County area I have been unable to put parents to Abram or Abraham. Abraham's wife Elizabeth is the daughter of John Hensey and Margaret Alexander. John and Margaret are said to be buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Nicholas. Cathy Field
