SPRING IN KENTUCKY

SRING IN KENTUCKY

SPRING IN KENTUCKY

Spring has arrived

in the mountains

and she means to stay awhile

painting our hills

with beauty

for many a country mile.

Only yesterday, the

hills were drab, no

color could be seen

and Spring, why she slipped

right in and suddenly,

they turned green.

She kissed the sleeping branches

and from their slumber they awoke

while down along the creek beds

the frogs began to croak.

The dogwoods and the redbuds

add more color to the hills

and the wild flowers

bloom abundantly

among the rock and rills.

The birds are all a-twitter

at the change from

winter to spring

and they shout it from

the treetops with

the joyful songs they sing.

Oh, it feels so good

to be alive

amidst the attractions

this season brings

especially when you live

in Kentucky

and the Season of the Year

is Spring.
