KODAK SCHOOL COMMENTS

I Remember Kodak School

Submitted By R. L. Ingram of Frankfort, KY: I attended Kodak Grade School from 1941 to 1949, graduating from the 8th grade in June 1949. The Principal, and 8th grade teacher at that time was a Mr. Bowling , I believe his name may have been Walter.

Other teachers I remember were : Justine Eversole (Combs), and Rilda Roark.

The school was a four room school house.

Also as I recall the layout of the school building.............standing on the RR track and looking at the school, the wing on your left would be the 1st and 2nd grades.............the wing on the right , ( I'm not sure, may have been 5th and 6th). The main wing (which ran across the back) was divided in the middle, with sliding doors, and the half furthest away from the old house was the 7th and 8th grade. The end nearest, would be 3rd and 4th. There was a covered porch, and steps, (hidden in this view) , where the right hand wing joins the main wing, and opened into the 7/8 classroom , and I believe a stage was at the end of the building also.

The school was entered from the covered porch and from the Railroad side. There was also a water pump between the two wings on the railroad side.

The school had two outdoor toilets. They are located in the picture as low buildings. The boys being the one nearest the road and the big house and the girls located back below the railroad track.
