Hi Lynda and Jimmie, First let me say I think you all have done a great job on the Perry Co. web site. I went to Glomawr Grade school from 1949 -1957. My first grade teacher in 1949 was Ella Mae Combs, Then there was Mrs. Maggard and Mr. Baker. Mr. Baker had a very bad limp I believe from Polio and had a hard time when the roads were covered with snow and He had to walk up the hollow to school. I will never forget Mrs. Effie Lee Gilbert, she was an amazing woman. Mrs. Gilbert was the principal and taught 6, 7 and 8th grade .We all knew someone was in trouble when she took off her watch. She was left handed and swung a mean paddle. Mr. Baker was the first teacher that gave me swats, I was in the third grade and I was a talker. I graduated in 1957, there was four of us in that class. Lois Feltner, Freeman Feltner, Jack Messer and myself, Elizabeth Sharon Scott. The picture I attached here was taken before I went to school

Well I'm going to try this again, I sent my email with a picture of a class at Glomawr Grade school before I was done. The picture I sent was taken around 1943. My sister Betty Josephine Scott is the little girl next to the teacher, she's peeping around someone's head. She thinks the teacher was Mrs. Hensley. the girl closest to the camera we think is Vivian Harper. Maybe some one else will know who the other kids are. The picture I am attaching to this email was probably taken the same day. The lady on the right was Carmie Ferguson, she wrote a column for the Hazard Herald for many, many years about the people in Glomawr. next to her is my mother Ivory Strong Scott, my brother Seph Scott Jr. is standing in front of her, Mabel Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey, Sam Ferguson husband of Carmie and unknown man. I hope that someone will have a picture of the old school and will send it in. In these pictures you can just see the windows where the lunch room would have been. Elizabeth Sharon Scott Campbell
