Perry County was formed in 1820/1 from
a portion of Clay and Floyd Counties. It is located in the Eastern Coal Field region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 700 to 2520 feet above sea level. In 1990 the county population was 30,283 in a land area of 342 square miles, an average of 88.5 people per square mile. The county seat is Hazard. |
