I have a picture of a Confederate Soldier, Milton Haywood Evans - our family history says that he swam the Mississippi River to get away from Union troops - Photo of him taken about 1863 - my grandmother says he had just been married to Melvina Smith when he was called in to service for the Confederacy, and they were married in 1863. - Don Martin Thomas
