Theodore 'Cotty' West

Theodore "Cotty" West, age 87, of Hamilton, passed away in Ft. Hamilton Hospital Hospice Unit on Saturday, September 20, 2003, at 5:30 a.m. He was born in Madison County, Kentucky, on June 8, 1916, the son of Walker and Carrie (Leeks) West.

Theodore was a member of the Millville Avenue Church of God, was a self-employed painter for ten years, retiring in 1978, was a premier fast pitch hurler for the Hamilton Fast Pitch League and was inducted into the Butler County Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 1982. On January 26, 1946, in Hamilton, he was married to Audrey Jane Gabbard and she preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by two sons, William and his wife Dee West of Hamilton and David and his wife Jan West of Port Richey, Florida; one daughter, Marilyn and her husband Prentice Roland of Cochran, Georgia; sixteen grandchildren, Cari, Mari Beth, Scott, Sean, Terri, Tina, Tonja, Teresa, Tammy, Tracy, Treasure, Katie, John, Reyna, Russell and Angel and thirty-eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a niece, Kathy (Monroe) Garrison of Hamilton, whom he raised; a devoted nephew, Rufus (Ernestine) West of Richmond, Kentucky and a brother-in-law, Clyde (Betty) Gabbard of Melbourne, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be held at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Allan Hutchinson, Pastor of the Millville Avenue Church of God officiating.

Burial will be in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The family requests memorials to Vitas Hospice.
