Arietta Smith

Arietta M. Smith, age 90, of Hamilton, passed away at University of Cincinnati Hospital on Friday, June 20, 2003, at 12:01 a.m. She was born in Berea, [Madison County], Kentucky, on March 11, 1913, the daughter of Anderson and Eliza (Lefer) Eversole. Arietta was a homemaker and an avid reader and wonderful painter. On April 1, 1961, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, she married James J. Smith, who preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Jimmie Leigh Rush of Dunedin, Florida; several cousins, including Viola Baker of Hamilton and Evelyn Arnold of Berea, Kentucky and a longtime friend, Darren Royer of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Nannie Wilson; a nephew, William Settles; and a niece, Yolanda Faye Settles.

Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Greenwood Cemetery today, June 24, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jacob Flannery, Pastor of the Franklin Street Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held at the Chapel on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Brown Dawson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
