Bessie Gladyth Rose age 99 of Mt. Vernon Rd. Berea died Tuesday at her home. Gladyth was born in Jackson County to the late Matt and Pollie Callahan Howard. Gladyth was a Berea College Laundry employee, and had been a member of the Fairview Baptist Church since she was 18 years old.

 

Gladyth is survived by her daughter Doris (Buddy) Gabbard of Berea, Granddaughter Gail Lee Gabbard of Berea and Nephews Don Treon of Versailles and Elwood (Norma) Treon of Murray, KY. Gladyth was preceded in death by a daughter Rilda Ann Rose, Sister Mona Treon, and grandson Robert Russell Gabbard.

 

Funeral services will be Friday June 18, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairview Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rodney Mullins, Luke Mullins, Mike Peters, John L. Gilliam, Michael Pickle, and John Blair. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Malone, Cletus Peters, Johnny Gilliam, Luther Isaacs, Boyd Wren, Jeff Poynter, David Gilliam, Jeff Blair and Marion Poynter. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Fairview Baptist Church. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
