Ben Franklin Denny, 84, formerly of Willis Manor, died Sunday, April 18, 2004 at the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Madison County, the son of the late Louis and Lizzie Olivier Denny. He was a retired carpenter and was associated with the Richmond Housing Authority. He also loved baseball and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

He is survived by four daughters, Rita G. Denny, Charlotte Hackworth, Kathy (Rusty) Williams and Benetta (Mike) Pearson all of Richmond; one son Richard "Dickie" Denny of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Michael Hackworth and Kelsey Williams, both of Richmond.

He is also survived by one sister ,Vaughta Wilson of Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Louise and Ethel Denny of Richmond; several nieces and nephews; one step-daughter, Rosa Lynn (Steve) Murphy of Richmond, and one step-son Harold Wayne (Thelma) Allen of Lexington.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Hampton and Volah "Pete" Denny and three brothers, O.P., Ballard and John Denny.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Denny, David Denny, "Speedy" Denny, Will Denny, Duane Masters, Wayne Allen and Jimmy Patton. Honorary pallbearers will be Rita Creech, Rhonda Miller, Bridget Settles, Grace Robertson, and his friends at Willis Manor.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
