Verna Williams Brandenburg, 87, of Holly Hill Drive, Berea, died Friday at Kenwood Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond. She was a native of Berea, a member of the Berea Baptist Church and ran Verna's Beauty Shop for many years. She was the widow of Albert C. Brandenburg. She is survived by her daughters, Silvia (ASA) Hord of Louisville and Janice Martin of Lexington; grandchildren, Louie, John Clay and Jim Hord of Louisville and David, Charlie and Mary Jo Martin of Lexington. 11 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brandenburg will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Davis and Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Slemp officiating. Burial will be in the Berea cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Berea Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
