Lester Baker

Lester Baker, age 80 of Oxford, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise on Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at 7:23 a.m. He was born in Brassfield, [Madison County], Kentucky, on October 26, 1922, the son of George and China (Rose) Baker. Lester was a veteran of World War II with the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was employed as a welder at Diebold Incorporated for 38 years, retiring in 1986. On March 10, 1951, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana he married Phoebe Hollingsworth.

He is survived by his loving wife, Phoebe Baker of Oxford; three sons, Ronald Baker and his wife Donna of Fairfield, Rick Baker of Eaton and Robert Baker and his wife Julia of Darrtown; four brothers, Nelson Baker and his wife Ruth of Franklin, Willard Baker and his wife Margie of Berea, Kentucky, Ellis Baker and his wife Faye of Glendale and Arlus Baker and his wife Betty of Richmond, Kentucky; three sisters, Beulah Moberley and her husband Glenn of Gratis, Naomi Brandenburg and her husband Glendon of Berea, Kentucky and Nancy Bradley and her husband Billy of Waco, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Austin and Abigail Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Nora and Lawrence Johnson.

Funeral service will be held at the Stahlheber Road Baptist Church, 1800 Stahlheber Road, on Saturday, May 10, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Harold Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, today, Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, Hamilton Branch.
