I am researching a book on the St. Albans Raid of 19 October 1864. It is my understanding
that James Alexander Doty one of the raiders was a farmer in Garrard Co. He also served
several terms as Co. Clerk. Is there anything in the way of articles or speeches that he
might have given which pertain to the St. albans Raid? If so, would it be possible that I
might obtain copies of same? It is possible that Raiders Thomas Collins and Samuel Lackey
might have been from Garrard as well - but they may have been from Jessamine, as was the
leader of the raid Bennett Young, or Madison. The same query applies to them as well as
any other of the raiders who might have been from there.

GENTRY / KINDRED / McCARTY. Searching for parents of Cynthia Jane GENTRY b. 14 Nov 1818
(see Madison quiry 27 Jan 1997). Mother may be Cynthia Jane or Mary. One possibility is
from "The Gentry Family in America" is Richard GENTRY(#73), b. 7 Sept 1795, in
VA, married his cousin Jane KINDRED (could be Cynthia Jane?). This GENTRY family was in
Madison Co., KY; later in Hendricks Co., IN. Their 2nd child was "Polly" b. 11
Nov 1818, where ? Polly is assumed to be a nickname, usually for Mary, but could it be for
Cynthia Jane? Another possibility, also from the Gentry reference. Josiah GENTRY(#34) b. 6
June 1768 in VA, d. 7 Jan 1856 in Richmond, KY. His third wife was Mary McCARTY. No
reasonable match for children listed. Did Cynthia Jane result from this later marriage?

Seeking information on the families of William SINGLETON and Stephen PARNELL first listed
on Madison Co. tax list about 1798. Where were they from? Their children Thomas SINGLETON
and Polly PARNELL were married in Madison Co. 1803; to Indiana about 1817. William
Singleton said to be the youngest brother of Richard SINGLETON of King's Mountain fame.
Can anyone verify or refute this? Any help greatly appreciated!

My g-g-grandfather, William N. Dealy moved to Madison County Ky, just south of Richmond in
about 1800. He raised 9 children there between about 1800 and 1831. He moved to Decatur
Co., IN in 1831 where he lived until 1848 when his wife, Mary Lizzie Danner died. Then he
moved to Jackson Co, Mo to the homes of his sons Talton and William N. Jr. near
Harrisonville (Cass Co). He died just prior to 1852. One of his sons, Edward or Edmund
stayed behind with his family in KY when the rest of the family moved to IN. Any
information about the Dealys / Dailys in this part of the country would be much
appreciated.
