STANFORD - Geneva "Jenny" Woodall Bradley, 65, of Hustonville died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 29, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Flora Wells Woodall. She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include Ora B. Bradley, who raised her; and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Helton and Marjie Fay Wersing, both of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Matt Jones officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

MOORESVILLE Ind. - Sylvia Marie (Padgett) Bradshaw, 64, of Mooresville, IN. passed away May 9, 2008 in Clarian West Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1944 in Stanford, KY. to Cecil and Ruby Padgett. Sylvia was a teacher in Wayne Township, Decatur Township and Mooresville Schools, having spent 31 years in Mooresville.

She was a member of the National Education Association and was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, on Monday, May 12 from 3:00 - 8:00 pm.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. CRAB ORCHARD - Thomas M. Butt, 88, of Crab Orchard passed away on Monday, March 16, at Oakwood Heritage Hospital in Taylor, Mich.

Born Aug. 9, 1920, in Crab Orchard, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Lucy Lafevers Butt. He was the husband of the late Anna Lee Singleton Butt who preceded him in death on October 17, 1993. Tom served in the U.S. Marines as a corporal during World War II and was a truck driver, retired after 35 years.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Anna Lee, Tom was preceded in death by his two brothers, Albert Lee Butt and William O. Butt; and a half sister, Florence Edwards.

Survivors Include a daughter, Janice Carol (Gary) Millikan of Belleville, Mich.; two grandsons, Jeffery D. (Michelle) Millikan and Thomas C. (Kellie) Millikan, both of Michigan; and three great-grandkids.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard, with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Albert Orland Carmack, 70, died Friday.

Born Feb. 8, 1939, in Pulaski County, he was a son of the late James Herbert Preston Carmack and Lizzie Mae Rogers Carmack.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Ann Eldridge Carmack; a son, Roger Dale Carmack; two brothers, Elmer and Johnny Carmack; two sisters, Carrie Anderson and Alice Carmack; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Bros. Gordon Chaney and Tracy Valentine. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Marie Rambo Carter, 90, of Louisville, formerly of Bowling Green, died Monday, Aug 14 at her residence at the Friendship Christian Home in Louisville.

A native of Stanford, she was the daughter of the late David B. Rambo & Mary Elizabeth Browning Rambo. She was a retired dorm director for Western Kentucky University, a member of First Christian Church of Bowling Green, and the widow of Robert Bright Carter.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Charles D. Carter of Bowling Green; 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and  one niece.

Born Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, in Boyle County, he was the son of Larry and Nakita Angeloff Castle.

Mason leaves behind his 2-year-old sister, Madysan Castle; grandparents, Tim and Beverly Moberly of Danville and Mike and June Angeloff of Waynesburg; and great-grandparents, Charity Naylor of Danville, Cheryl Stone of Jessamine County and Bob Miller of Bryantsville.

William Talmadge Doan, 59, died unexpectedly in Lexington, on July 19. He was the brother of Orderly S. Doan, uncle of Mrs. Adrian Gooch, and brother of the late Mrs. William A. Rambo, all of Stanford.

 Mr. Doan was born in Corbin, October 13, 1919, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. LaSalle Doan [Pearl McKinney Doan].

He graduated from Stanford High School in 1940. He was a World War II Veteran, a member of the infantry in Europe.

Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Catherine Watson Doan of Lexington, whom he married in 1946  in New York; a son, Captain Robert D. Doan, U.S. Air Force, Abilene, TX.; a daughter Barbara Ann Varrone of Atlanta, GA.; another brother, Roscoe B. Doan of Columbus, OH.; and two granddaughters, Stephanie Doan and Michele Varrone. STANFORD - Mary Retta Lawrence Gooch, 89, of Stanford passed away on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was the widow of Thomas Gooch.

Born Dec. 17, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Mattie Evans Lawrence. She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church, former children's Sunday School teacher and former member of the Onward Homemakers Club and XYZ Club.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Gooch (Linda) of Stanford; a daughter, Rosemary Carruba (George) of Winchester; a half brother, Donald Lawrence of Nicholasville; grandchildren, Michelle Martin (Jerry), Tracy Gooch, Jennifer Gilbert (Grant), Brian Carruba (Stacy) and Alissa Sipple (Brian); and great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Kannon Martin, Trenton Taylor, Jaxon and Gavin Carruba and Olivia Rose Sipple.

Jimmy Lynn Hamilton, 61, of Cemetery Road in Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 20, 2009 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

He was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on December 28, 1947, son of the late James W. Hamilton and Roberta Jean Castle Hamilton Martin. He was a woodworker and a retired caseworker for the Department of Human Resources. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Ann Sims Hamilton of Waynesburg, two sons, James Arnold Hamilton of Lexington, KY and Richard Lee Hamilton of Waynesburg, one granddaughter, Morgan Presley Hamilton of Lexington, KY, brother-in-law, John Kraemer of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dianne C. Kraemer and his grandparents who raised him, Jim P. and Della Hamilton.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, March 23, 2009 at Pond Baptist Church with Bro. Gordon Chaney officiating.

Burial will be in Pond Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #18.

CRAB ORCHARD - Timothy Edward "Tim" Harker, 35, of Crab Orchard, Ky., passed away Friday, March 13, 2009, at Cedar Creek Lake.

Born Nov. 17, 1973, in Tampa, Fla., he was the son of Ona Harker Hendershot. Tim loved the outdoors and he died while taking his dog out for a walk. He loved to fish, especially at Cedar Creek Lake.

Survivors Include his father, Robert Haler; his mother, Ona Harker Hendershot; stepdad, Doug Hendershot; a son who he loved so dearly, Timothy James Harker; a sister, Bobbie Lee Webb; his step-grandmother, Emma Hendershot; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation is noon-2 p.m. today at McKnight Funeral Home.

WAYNESBURG - Earl Lee Hays, 49, of Whitaker Road, Eubank, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center.

Born Monday, Oct. 5, 1959, in Danville, he was a son of the late Ervin Lou and Maudie Lee Singleton Hays. Earl was a forklift operator for American Greetings where he was employed for 28 years. He attended the Church of Christ and always will be remembered by family and friends for his gift of art.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Glen Hays; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Guinn.

Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Becky Lester Hays of Eubank; two sons, Travis Earl (Tiffany Oaks) Hays and Daniel Lee Hays, both of Eubank; a brother, Marion (Debbie) Hays of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Louise Guinn of Danville; a sister-in-law, Donna Hays of Wyandotte, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

An Appreciation of Life service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Bro. Vola Brown, with burial to follow in Double Springs Cemetery.

Born Sept. 6, 1933, in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late George and Sally Deborde Owens. She was a member of Crab Orchard Church of God.

STANFORD - Bobby Earl Hurst, 65 of Salvisa, formerly of Stanford, died Feb. 12, 2009, in Okeechobee, Fla.

Born Aug. 24, 1943, in Stanford, Ky., he was the son of Ida Naylor Hurst and the late Lincoln Hurst. He was retired from IBM and a former employee of Fayette County Schools.

Survivors include his mother, Ida Hurst of Stanford; a son, David (Jeannie Gayle) Hurst of Lancaster; two sisters, Gladys (George) Cunningham of Danville and Joan Rudd of Palm Coast, Fla.; two grandchildren, Eliza and Caleb Hurst; and a special friend and companion, Bonnie Cunningham of Salvisa. He was preceded in death by his father, Lincoln Hurst; a brother, Ray Hurst; and sister, Laverne Smith Fox.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Burton, with burial in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

David Johnson, 71, of Proctor Street, Danville, died Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, he was born Jan. 4, 1938, to the late Wilbur and Doris Rockwood Johnson. He taught in the Lincoln County school system, pastored churches in Lincoln and Pulaski counties, attained a master’s degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Waynesburg.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Paul Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Bandy Johnson of Danville; two sons, Michael Johnson of Danville and Charles (Sherry) Johnson of Spokane Wash.; two brothers, Wilbur (Marcella) Johnson Jr. of Louisville and Daniel (Lynda) Johnson of Nicholasville; and one sister, Gertrude (Jan) McAninch of Waynesburg.

Florence Hazlett Mason, 72, of Stanford, died Tuesday, Feb. 17 at her home.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born Sept. 14, 1936, to the late Joseph Abraham Hazlett and Georgia Ann Phillips Hazlett. She worked at Genesco and Whirlpool, was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the widow of T. L. Mason, Sr.

Mr. Eugene Meece 76, of 106 Grand Circle, Somerset passed away Tuesday September 17, 2002 at his residence.

 He was born May 21, 1926 in the Bent community a son of the late William Andrew and Louvena (Stogsdill) Meece. He was a machine operator for General Electric. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and church.

He is survived by four brothers Norman Meece, William Meece Jr., and Ralph Meece all of Cincinnati, Ohio. and Harold Meece of Akron, Ohio; one sister Margaret Lou Love of Cincinnati, Ohio; four half brothers Benny T. Meece of Virginia, Donny Meece, Jeff Meece and Danny Meece all of Lebanon, Ohio; one half sister Theresa Bolsner of Lebanon, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Katherine (Lewis) Meece whom he married on July 3, 1948 in Norwood, Ohio; a sister Ruth Ellen Meece and a half sister Andrea Bolsner.

The body of Charles Mitchell, 55, of Martin Trail, Stanford, was found on the burned mattress inside his mobile home between Stanford and McKinney, Coroner Bill Demrow said. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Kristina Downey; one son, Timothy William Walter Downey; a granddaughter, Heather Ann Oldham; and one brother, William Darrell Mullins, Sr.

Mr. James "Jimmy" Douglas Stevens, 64, of Crab Orchard, KY passed away Sunday, March 1st, 2009 at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.

James was born in Lincoln County, Kentucky on February 4, 1945. He was the son of the late John Hardy and Sarah Bell Thomas Stevens.

James is survived by son, Tommy Stevens of Ohio, daughter Jamie Bell Stevens of Crab Orchard, a brother J. W. Stevens of Crab Orchard and a sister, Delsie (Shirle) Brown of Crab Orchard. 
 In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by brothers; Delbert & Bobby Stevens and a sister, Irene Powell.

Pallbearers include: Everett Adams, Anthony Cahill, Shannon & Dale Stevens, Randall Brown, Tyler Davis and Connell Anderson.

STANFORD - Evelyn Reynolds Taylor, 84, of Stanford died Saturday at her home.

Born Oct. 24, 1924, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Cloyd and Hazel Anderson Reynolds. She was the widow of Henry Clay Blanton Jr. and Jim Taylor Sr. She was manager and co-owner of Skytower Restaurant and Halls Gap Hotel, and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Rosalie Dowell (Hubert) of Crawfordsville, Ind., Joan Swallows of Wilmore, Ky., Hazel Manuel (Gene) of Northeast, Md., Etta Bailey (Edd) and Connie Fowler, both of Stanford; a stepson, Jimmy Taylor (Janie) of Stanford; three brothers, Harold Reynolds of Danville, Jim Reynolds of Somerset and Eugene Reynolds of Russellville; three sisters, Audrey Blankenship of Crab Orchard, Libby Hawkins of Columbus, Ind., and Glenda Estes of Stanford; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Brad and Raymond Reynolds; and a sister, Sula Martin.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be the Revs. Aaron Hogue, Vola Brown and Chris McCombs. Interment will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

William M. Teater, 85, of Stanford, died at his home Friday, May 12, 2006. Born November 14, 1920 in Garrard County to the late Harris and Eva Taylor Teater. He was a general contractor and a member of the Stanford Christian Church “Disciples of Christ” were h waw a former Sunday School Superintendant, former elder and Deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret V. Teater; two sons, William M. Teater, Jr. of Mt. Vernon, OH and Thomas Wade Teater of Lexington, Kentucky; one daughter, Bernadine King Bell of Waynesburg, KY; four grandchildren, Dana Montgomery, Margaret Pittman, Emily Teater and William M. Teater III, one step grandchild, Ryan Montgomery; one brother, Manford Teater of Lancaster, Ky.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Teater and sister, Ann Lewis.

Reverends Jim Baughman and Richard Reed will be officiating the services. Pallbearers will be David Horseman, Sr., Ryan Montgomery, Bobby Montgomery, Art Hibbard, Cabel Francis, Jr. and T. J. Hill, IV.

STANFORD - Alberta Terry, 90, of Stanford died Tuesday at his home.

Born March 17, 1918, in Stanford, he was a son of the late Elbert Newell Terry and Maggie Mae Deatherage Terry. He was the widower of Elizabeth Bishop Terry. He was an auto body painter, a World War II Army veteran, an avid fisherman and fox hunter.

Survivors include five sons Gary Terry, David Terry, Earl Terry (Janet) and Michael Terry (Monica) all of Stanford, and Mark Terry of Lexington; four daughters, Connie Hall (Red) of Knoxville, Linda Richards of Stanford, and Cathie Faulkner (Roy) and Barbara Dunford (Nathan), both of Danville; a brother, Otto Terry of Stanford; and a sister, Augusta Collett of Troy, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Thomas Wesley Terry; and a daughter, Vicky Rose Terry.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vola Brown officiating.

MORELAND - Gregg Timberlake, 71, of Danville died Wednesday at his residence.

Born Feb. 8, 1938, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late William and Jennie McElfresh Timberlake. He owned and operated Timberlake Windows in Danville. He was preceded in death by a son, William.

Survivors include a son, Greg Timberlake of Danville; three daughters, Cathy (Sonny) Evans of Danville, Carol (Shorty) Cox of Forkland and Nancy Sparks of Moreland; his fianc, Nancy Rousey of Boyle County; a brother, William Dean Timberlake of Ohio; four sisters: Edna Baugh, Barbara Kestler and Hazel Slone, all of Ohio, and Virginia Douglas of Stanford; seven grandchildren, Chelsie and Joshua Cox, Jessica and Devin Coffman, and Spencer, Hannah and Courtney Timberlake.

Iva Wallace West, 81, of Norwood-Mt. Zion Road, Science Hill, died Monday, March 9 at her residence.

A native of Pulaski County, she was born June 17, 1927, to the late Delmer and Maggie Blevins. She was a homemaker, member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and widow of Charles "Bud" Wallace Jr., and Marion West.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Herman Blevins and three sisters, Norma Jean Flynn, Noreen Blevins and her twin sister, who died at birth.

Survivors include one son, James (Dean) Wallace; three daughters, Barbara Blevins, Carolyn (Eric) Dick and Wanda Wallace (Scott Irvin), all of Science Hill; one sister, Genevie Hargis of Xenia, Ohio; six grandchildren, William Howard Blevins, Charles (Amy) Blevins, Brandon Cook, Tony Ray (Faye) Whiles, Stacy (Jennifer) Whiles and Margaret Marie "Crickett" Stien; one great grandchild, Harley Delynn Whiles; and two special brothers-in-law, Jack and Frank Wallace.

Mrs. Wilson was born June 14, 1917, in Lincoln County, KY, the daughter of Fonzo S. Sr. and Orithia Warfield Berry.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include her sons, William B. Wilson of Stanford, KY, and Ronald K. Wilson of Crossville; and sisters, Edyth Judd of Cookeville, Juanita Dobson of Chamblee, GA, and Jewell Pointer of Algood, TN.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Fonzo S. Berry Jr.

Born April 2, 1947, he was a son of the late James Matthew and Virginia Jones Young. He had been a history teacher, a gate hauler and a Vietnam veteran.

Survivors include his children, Katherine Kays of Waynesburg, James Matthew Young of Hustonville and Megan Holtzclaw of Stanford; two brothers, Henry and Jerry Young, both of Georgia; two sisters, Dora Ramsey of Lexington and Linda Dana of Scott, Georgia; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
