From: "Greg Kilmer" Subject: Buffalo Springs Cemetery Date: Wednesday, August 20, 2008 9:18 PM Hello... I am Gregory Kilmer from Middletown, Ohio and I recently visited the Buffalo Springs cemetery while in Kentucky for a family reunion. I was looking for the grave of John T. O'Hair but I didn't come across it so I wrote to the Cemetery and they confirmed his burial there and that there is a marker. John T. O'Hair is a grandson of Irish immigrant, Revolutionary War soldier and Kentucky pioneer Michael O'Hair who married Elizabeth Tribbett. John T. is my great-grandfather William O'Hair's brother. Another brother, Huston O'Hair, lived in Lincoln County and married a Mary Walls but he returned to his birth county of Wolfe County when he became ill and is buried there. All three of these brothers fought with different units in the Civil War and all three were in William Tecumseh Sherman's March to the Sea. Their father, William O'Hair, Sr., a civilian, was assassinated by the Home Guard in Wolfe County. I did not see John T. O'Hair's name on your listing for the Buffalo Springs Cemetery so I will include excerpts from a letter I received from Dee-Dee Lay of the Buffalo Springs Cemetery. "I have found the grave location of John T. O'Hair. He is indeed in Section 5, Lot 155 1/2, Grave 5. He was born April 7, 1837 and died June 20, 1901. The card we have on file is in J.T. O'Hair's name. It is a 6 grave lot, as follows: 3) (blank)................6) Mrs. J. T. O'Hair 2) Nancy E. Elmore 5) J.T. O'Hair 1) Mamie Carter(inf) 4) Dave(inf) of J.T. O'Hair I found stones for Mamie Carter (inf). Nancy E. Elmore and J.T. O'Hair are on the same tall stone. But I didn't find stones for Mrs. J.T. O'Hair or Dave (inf of) J.T. O'Hair. Dee-Dee Lay" While she reported John T's birth date as April 7 I have it from other sources as April 17. John T's wife's name appears on a census as "Elizabeth." He served with Company D of the 29th Illinois Infantry. If this information is adequate please add the name of John T. O'Hair to the Buffalo Springs list. Thank you. Sincerely, Gregory Kilmer
