Jess Shelton 12/06/1916 - 06/08/1939 s/o Larkin M and Eva Singleton Shelton Jess was killed in a car wreck just outside of Crab Orchard. An old man backed out in front of Jess Shelton. He backed completely into Jess’s lane and Jess couldn’t stop. Jess died while lying in the road. There wasn’t anything anyone could do to help him. “Sollie” Ewell and his family were following behind Jess and witnessed the accident. Gladys Hopkins was the two year old daughter of Ewell and Ella Saylor Hopkins. She died on August 5, 1912 and was buried
at the Greenbrier Cemetery on down and across the road from the Hopkins Cemetery. She has a tombstone
at the Greenbrier Cemetery but we have purchased a tombstone for her identical to her
baby brother and sisters’ stones and placed it in the Hopkins Cemetery in her memory. Shelby Hopkins
