COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY, ) (- sct. COUNTY OF KENTON ) I, Charles Waugh Reynolds, 48 West Fourth Street, Covington, Ky. born November 10, 1871- as is to be noted in the Family Bible- the date being in the hand-writing of my parent- born in Cincinnati, Ohio, coming to Covington, Ky. in December, 1875 and residing at 13 West Sixth Street, Covington, Ky. with my parents, Mr. And Mrs. Orrin A. Reynolds and my little brother, now Dr. Orrin Lyle Reynolds, who was born July 21, 1874 in Cincinnati, Ohio, do now and hereby declare the following to be facts:- In the Spring of 1876, my mother became ill- as both she and my father have told me on several occasions. My father started out to find a doctor, not knowing any of them in Covington, as we had been here but a few months. He left our home at 13 West Sixth Street, a hundred feet west of Madison Street and went up Madison Street as far as Eighth Street but found none in their offices. He noted the home address of Dr. Edward Stratton Stuard as being 525 Montgomery Street- which was but a square and a half away from our home. So to Dr. Stuard's residence he went and left a call for Dr. Stuard. I well remember when Dr. Stuard came to our home. My memory of events at 13 West Sixth Street and threabout is very vivid. Later on my father told me that when he went to Dr. Stuard's home he heard a baby crying and so, when he was informed that the baby was Dr. Stuard's he felt that the Doctor personally knew of the cares of family life. Later on, when we also lived at 525 Montgomery Street and had as a roomer, Mr. Charles E. Easton, a brother of Mrs. Dr. Stuard, I told him of this baby, and he said- "Well, that was Harry." As Dr. Stuard was our first doctor in Covington, he being such until he moved to Philadelphia, Penn. about 1886, we felt very close to Dr. Stuard and his family and I well remember his sister and younger brother Ned, as well as Harry, who was but a few months younger than my brother, Orrin Lyle Reynolds. I have always known that Harry was the oldest child and have never heard of any death of a possible prior child, and I also knew that Harry was about the age of my brother Lyle and judging from the statement of Mr. Charles E. Easton made to me about 1888, that that baby was Harry, I believe that the date of Harry (Henry) Easton Stuard - August 20, 1875 must be correct. I remember that Mr. Charles E. Easton had a brother, Henry, who was deceased before 1888, as well as two sisters, one the mother of Harry, and a sister married to a Mr. Robert Harrison- with whom my mother and father were friends, also Mr. Ben Easton. It is true that Covington, Ky. has no birth records prior to 1896, as I found the same to be a fact, when I was Health Officer of Covington, Ky. from May, 1900 to May, 1902. The Easton Family were members of the old Union Methodist Church at the s.w. cor. of Fifth and Greenup Streets. They may hold the baptismal record of the Stuard Family children. The Stuard Family left Covington years ago. I understand that Dr. Stuard is dead- for if living he would be pretty close to being 100 years of age, as he was in the Civil War. /signed/ Charles Waugh Reynolds MD Chas.
