Crescent Springs Presbyterian Church. Photo taken sometime after the belfry was dedicated in 1938. The Womens Auxillary went to the Church Session in 1933 to seek permission to add a belfry to the Church to house the bell. The permission was given, and for the next five years the women of the Church worked to raise the $489.98 that was needed to erect the belfry.

The corner store, Crescent Springs Kenucky, abt 1905. Robert Hugh Lockbaum was born in the apartment over the store on August 28, 1907. The store was owned at that time by Albert Hugh Gillaspie. Albert Gillaspie was the uncle of Robert's mother, Jennie McCollum Gillaspie Lockbaum. Albert Gillaspie later sold the store to the Smiths, who then sold it to the Feldmens. The bridge in the background is the old bridge over the railroad tracks. It is currently a footbridge.

Crescent Springs Kentucky Presbyterian Church founded 1898. The Church was built on land donated by the D.C. Collins Family. It was constructed from stone hewn from the creek on the farm of Joseph Eubanks, a charter member. It took nearly two years to complete the building which was begun in 1899 and was shaped as a Maltese Cross. Crescent White Villa Team Seeks Honors.

     The comely girls shown above in the checkered suits comprise the Crescent White Villa team, which will battle with the Stroup Drugs at Crescent Springs, Ky., Tuesday for second place in the elimination series of the Girls' Blue Grass Recreation League.
     Stroup Drugs are in second place by reason of four victories and one defeat. The White Villa girls are tie for third, with three wins and one loss.

Does anyone recognize the old school building--or any of the children--it might be in Ludlow, Walton, or Bergen, Kentucky. The little girl in the front row, 3rd from the left, with glasses, is Alice Virginia Finnell, born in Walton, in 1907. She is the daughter of Robert Kirtley and Rose Allen Finnell and the grandaughter of Richard and Angeline "Annie"Johnson Finnell of Walton.

Grand Marshall Robert "Bob" Finnell of Crescent Springs and spouse Mildred Manning Finnell of Independence--- Class of 1939. Bob was All State in Football and played in the first Shrine Game at Lexington, Kentucky.

These Photos have had an interesting journey. They were taken by Weaver Bros in Covington, Kenton County Kentucky, probably before 1900. The originals were purchased by an unnamed woman in a box of junk at a rummage sale in the State of Washington. Penciled on the back of one of the photos was, "Joe Finnell and Sam Finnell". Penciled on the back of the other photo was, " send to Mrs Finnell". The woman who purchased the photos located the Finnell Family Website on the Internet that is maintained by Arthur Louis Finnell. Arthur forwarded copies of the photos to several Finnell cousins for a possible ID. Thus, it is thought that the photos are of Joseph C. Finnell Sr. born 4 Mar 1854, Covington, KY, died 14 Feb 1911, Cincinnati, OH, and his sons Joseph C. Finnell Jr. born June 1885, Covington, KY and Samuel C. Finnell born July 1888, Covington, KY. Joseph C. Finnell Sr. married Mamie H. Cochran in 1883 at the home of her parents on Garrard Steet in Covington, KY. In 1882 Joseph C. Finnell Sr. was appointed United States Clerk and Commissioner, with his office in Covington, and served for 29 years. He is buried at Highland Cemetery, and was the son of John W. Finnell, Adjutant General of the State of Kentucky in 1861. His mother was Elizabeth Tureman Finnell.
