The Culwell Family Album
![]()
These is of my Culwell family. This
is my Aunt
Lizzie Culwell she is the daughter of Charlie Culwell and Mary Stambaugh and
in the picture with her is her second husband Hylo Brown. She was first
married to Hark Witten. She passed away September 1993 of cancer. It is not
certain when the picture was taken my guess would be 1965 or 66 at one of the
family reunions or Papa's birthday.
Charlie Culwell born May 15,1901 in
Lawrence Co. Ky died December 30,1963 in Jackson County Ohio married Mary
Stambaugh d/o Wallace Stambaugh and Jane Murray Jan.6,1920 in Johnson Co. Ky
Mary was born Feb.11,1904 in Johnson Co. Ky and died July 3,1990 in Jackson
Co. Ohio. They were the parents of 11 children. This is the home they moved
into shortly after arriving in Jackson from Johnson Co. Ky.
The one titled Mama at a reunion is Mary Stambaugh
Culwell at a reunion either in
Jackson shortly after they moved there from Johnson co. or it is taken in
Johnson Co. Ky no-one seems to know for sure. The woman standing next to her
is simply known as Mrs. McKenzie I am hoping someone will see this picture and
help me identify her. She is definitely from Johnson and still lived there at
the time the picture was taken. The other woman is Aunt Lora Culwell
Adams. Sorry that is all I have on this
picture.I have to find the other reunion pictures that have the UNKNOWN Ky
family in them. But I do have some of my Mama&Papa's kids and some of Papa's
brothers and I have one of Papa with a fellow preacher. My Papa was a Baptist
Preacher. We called him Papa instead of Grandpa...he died before I was born so
I didn't know him and would like to find out more about his family. I forgot
to mention that Papa {Charlie Culwell} is the son of William Culwell and
Elizabeth McKenzie. William was also known to go by the last name Calwell and
Caldwell.
Reunion 2...we have
no idea who all of these children belong to. They were taken at one of the
reunions and alot of people came from Johnson Co.ky to attend the ones in
Jackson. If anyone recognizes a child let me know.
