Additional Notes:
|
Local oral history
says regarding Alford Holder & Maggie Snyder that when one of
them died, the other committed suicide.
The following are
said to be buried in this Cemetery but have fieldstone Markers
with no engravings.
Christopher Snawder
Christopher Snawder Jr.
Infant of Frederick & Ella Snawder
Infant of Wilmer & Ocia Whitlock
A fieldstone marker
also exists here for an unknown Civil War soldier as his body was
found in Christopher Snawder's barn loft frozen to death.
Mr. Snawder buried him, as he found no identification on the body.
Donald Thompson was
the first person brought up on this Hillside Cemetery in a Hearse
in 1978. Up until this time, all others were either
hand carried or taken on a sleigh drawn by mule due to the the
path and bridge leading up to the cemetery being inaccessible by
motor vehicles.
My thanks to Barry
Lawson and his wife "Cookie" who were kind enough to
take me to several cemeteries that I would never have found
without their assistance. - Alan Murray
