Meriwether Family Cemetery |
This transcription was taken from "The Kentucky
Genealogist", Vol. 23, No. 2, dated Apr.- Jun. 1981, a quarterly
publication of the Kentucky Historical Society. This
cemetery was copied by Roberta S. Disponett. It was originally
located on the property of William Meriwether, who came to Kentucky in
1805, at the end of Lees Lane at the Ohio River. In 1980 this
land was owned by Borden Chemical Company, and was known as the Lees
Lane Landfill. This cemetery was removed to Cave Hill Cemetery
on 15 May 1912.
"There were
probably others buried in this cemetery, but their names are
unknown to me. In researching the Meriwether family of
Jefferson County, Kentucky, I learned about this cemetery from
Meriwether descendants, and from the records of Cave Hill
Cemetery." - Roberta S. Disponett
