2002 Johnson County Reunions

LEMASTER REUNION

The descendants of Eleazor Lemaster, born 1760 in Amherst Co., Va. and died about 1857 in Johnson Co Ky., have started a fund to buy a monument for Eleazor and second wife Rachel Ramey. Now buried in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, their graves were removed from the original interment location during the Paintsville Lake Project. Their graves are marked with standard government issued stone. The small marker, set at ground level, is usually covered with dirt and grass. Plans have been made to also include a memorial notation of his Eleazor's first wife, Machell Tackett that died about 1793 in South Carolina. Children from both marriages will be listed on the back of the double headstone.

Eleazor and his two wives are the ancestors of most Eastern Kentucky Lemaster families that have descendants all over the world. The annual reunion for the descendants of Thomas (son of Richard and grandson of Eleazor) and Mary "Polly" Cantrell will be held in Johnson County on Saturday, August 3, 2002. A memorial dedication for Eleazor will follow on Sunday at the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery. Also, plans are underway for a genealogy workshop to be held on Friday evening, if there are enough participants.

Those interested in attending the workshop should contact John right away. If interested in participating in this project or attending the reunion please send contributions to Johnnie H. Lemaster, 6221 Kyle Ct., Ashland, KY or Mrs. Pat Patton, 444 Main St., Paintsville, Ky., 41240. Contact John for info on the reunion.
