We have made it our firm mission to resume publication of The Highland Echo on a regular basis this coming year. John David Preston has agreed to act as editor in chief, and Melissa Small, Beverly Estep, Selene Blanton and Joseph Whitaker have agreed to act as co-editors.

We need your photos, brief genealogies and articles. We have several ideas for material to print, but we need more if we are going to produce a quality publication. Let me know if you have something to submit, and I will send you information on the format you need to use. Johnson County, Kentucky was established in 1843, with Paintsville as the county seat, and named in honor of Col. Richard M. Johnson. Before Johnson County came into existence, its people resided in Floyd County, Lawrence County and Morgan County. One day its people were in their home county and seemingly overnight they became citizens of Johnson County. What appears as though our ancestors were always moving could very well have been the result of the changing boundaries around them.
