Deed - Leah Beard to James S. Blackburn
Book J, Page 451, Grant Co., Kentucky

Know all men by these presents that I Lear Beard (formerly Lear Blackburn of Grant County in the state of Kentucky & now of Clark County Missouri) for and in Consideration of the Sum of Sixty dollars paid in hand by James S. Blackburn of the County of Clark in the State of Missouri to the said Lear Beard the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged do grant bargain and sell unto the said James S. Blackburn all my right title & interest in and to the Estate of Berd Blackburn deceased of the County of Grant in the state of Kentucky it being my dower in the Estate of the said Bird Blackburn, it being one third part of the following described real Estate to wit That is to say the one third part of sixty acres more or less, known as the Blackburn farm and bounded by James Bennett on the East William Beard on the South, Washington Jameson on the West and William Petitt on the North, being in the County of Grant and State of Kentucky To have and to hold the premises hereby conveyed with all the appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining during my life unto the said James S. Blackburn his heirs and assigns. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of August 1857.

Deed - O. P. Hogan to Bird Blackburn Heirs
Book K, Page 315, Grant County, Kentucky

Whereas O. P. Hogan of grant County Kentucky did on the 18th September 1844 sell by title Bond to bird Blackburn the tract of land hereinafter described containing Sixty acres for the consideration of three Hundred Dollars all of which has been fully paid and whereas after the said Hogan sold to said Blackburn the said tract of land and gave him his bond for title binding himself to convey the same by deed of general warrantee the said Bird Blackburn departed this life intestate leaving his widow Leah Blackburn him Surviving and the following persons his only heirs at law towit James S. Blackburn Warren Blackburn, David Blackburn and Nancy Blackburn who has since intermarried with James W. Collins Now therefore in consideration of the premises and the further consideration of the aforesaid three Hundred Dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the aforesaid O. P. Hogan and Sarah his wife party of the first part do hereby grant bargain and sell convey and confirm to the aforesaid Leah widow of the aforesaid Bird Blackburn the one third of said land for and during her natural life and unto the aforesaid James S. Blackburn David Blackburn Warren Blackburn and Nancy Collins late Nancy Blackburn & their heirs and assigns the fee Simple to said land forever the said tract of land is situate in the County of Grant on the Waters of Eagle Creek and Bounded as follows towit Beginning at the intersecting lines between May Bennett & Co and Mitchells patent where the same intersects thence N2-W 10 poles to two Beeches in Mays line thence West130 poles to a stake in Mitchells original line thence South 42 East 200 poles to the Beginning, Containing Sixty Acres 3 rods and Twelve poles being the same tract of land conveyed by John F.Gorah Master Commissioner of the Grant Circuit Court by deed recorded in Clerks office Grant County Court Deed Book F Page 270 together with all and Singular the privileges and appurtenances unto the said Leah widow of the said Bird Blackburn during her natural life of in and to the one third of said land being her dower interest therein and the balance unto the said James S. Blackburn, David Blackburn Warren Blackburn and Nancy Collins forever To have and to hold the remaining two thirds and the fee simple to the aforesaid One Third unto them and their heirs forever and the party of the first part Covenant to and with the part of the second part that they will forever warrant and defend the Same against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whomsoever In Witness whereof the party of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals this 22nd day of December 1859.

Know all men by these presents that We James W. Collins and Nancy Collins wife of the said James W. Collins of the County of Lewis in the state of Missouri for and in consideration of One Hundred dollars paid in hand by James S. Blackburn of the County of Clark in the state of Missouri to the said James W. Collins the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged do grant bargain, and sell, unto said James S. Blackburn the following described tract of land situated in the County of Grant that is to say the undivided fourth of Fifty acres more or less known as the Blackburn farm and bounded by James Bennett on the east, William Beard on the South, Washington Jameson on the West and William Petitt on the North lying and being in the County of Grant and State of Kentucky To have and to hold the premises hereby conveyed with all the privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the said James S. Blackburn his heirs and assigns forever In Testimony whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names and affixed our seals this 20 day of June A.D. 1857

Pettitt of the second part, both of Grant County Kentucky: Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the Sums of One Hundred and Eight Six dollars 20 cents in hand paid by the party of the Second part The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged The part of the first part does hereby grant bargain sell convey & confirm unto the part of the Second part his heirs & C forever one undivided fourth part of a certain tract or parcel of land in Grant County Kentucky on the waters of Eagle Creek and bounded as follows to wit-Beginning at the crossing of May's intersection line thence N2 W150 poles to two Beeches in Mays line, thence West 130 poles to a Stake in Mitchells Original line thence South 42 East 200 poles to the Beginning Containing Sixty acres more or less-Together with all and Singular the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining To have and to hold the aforesaid One undivided fourth of Said land or parcel of land unto him the said Pettitt his heirs & assigns forever and the part of the first part hereby covenants to and with the sd Petit that the title of the aforesaid tract of land Hee will forever warrant and defend against all and every claim whatsoever

This Indenture made and entered into this 23rd day of December 1859 between James S. Blackburn and Talitha Susan Blackburn his wife party of the first part and Charles C. Petitt party of the second part for and in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred and Ninety Dollars in hand paid by the party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. The part of the first part do hereby grant, bargain sell, convey and confirm unto the part of the second part and assigns forever the One undivided half and the dower interest of Mrs. Leah Beard late Blackburn (being one third of the tract of land during her natural life) in and to the tract or parcel of land in Grant County upon the waters of eagle Creek and bounded as follows to wit Beginning at the crossing of Mays intersecting line thence N2W 150 poles to two beeches in Mays lines, thence West 130 poles to a stake in Mitchells original line, thence South 42 East 200 poles to the place of Beginning - Containing Sixty acres, three Rods and twelve poles, together with all and singular the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining To have and to hold the aforesaid dower interest of said Leah Beard late Leah Blackburn, and the One undivided half of said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Petit his heirs and assigns forever, and the part of the first part hereby covenants to and with the party of the second part that the party of the first part hereby covenant to and with the party of the second part that the title to the aforesaid dower interest of the said Leah Beard, and the one undivided half of the tract of land herein before described, He will forever warrant and defend against all and every claim whatsoever In Witness whereof the party of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals this 23rd day of December 1859

This Indenture made this 25th day of July in the year 1866 between Warren Blackburn of the County of Grant and the Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and William A. Petitt of the County & Commonwealth aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Warren Blackburn for and in consideration of Two hundred and six Dollars in hand paid the Receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold, & by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the said William A. Petitt his heirs & assigns all his right title & interest in a certain Tract or parcel of Land situate & being in the County of Grant & on the waters of eagle Creek & being the same inherited from my father Bird Blackburn Deceased Said Tract of Land supposed to Contain Sixty acres be the same more or less Together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging To have & to hold the Land hereby conveyed to the said William A. Petitt his heirs & assigns forever & the Said Warren Blackburn for himself his Hrs Executors & administrators the aforesaid Tract of Land & appurtenances unto the same W. A. Petitt his Heirs & assigns against the claim or claims of every persons under by or through him & will forever warrant & defend the same and by these presents In witness whereof the said Warren Blackburn doth hereunto subscribe his name this the 23rd day of July 1864
