Ron Wainscott
Date: 2000-09-08 Kentucky families: Wainscott, O'Banion, Ireland, Dorman, Brewer
Comments: I've spent some time this week searching for information on the Dorman Family. I started on your Grant Co. site but was led to the Owen Co. webpage. Togather, I found what I needed.

I was looking for information about a Civil War coat that was given to us by Mason Dorman who lived at Corinth and who died in 1986. He had told us it was his grandfather's who fought in that war but he never told us his name. From the two sites, I have learned the coat belonged to James Hervey Dorman, who later became a state senator and then judge of Owen Co.

I'll be using your site looking for information on the Wainscott, Ireland, Brewer and O'Banion familes for my grandson.

Great websites.

John brought several slaves with hime and built a brick home on a high ridge between Bank Lick Creek and the Licking River. The home was torn down @ 1950. I would lihe to find the location of this home to see if there is a graveyard.

Gary Webster
Date: 2000-05-13 Kentucky families:? Crouch and Webster
Comments: I have searched the Crouch family back to Sally B. Crouch, maiden name unknown. She was born about 1700 probably in Virginia and the family is later found in Warsaw, Ky. on one of the tax list. Her husband's name is unknown. Her son which is found in Warsaw, Ky was Lewellen Crouch. She was living next to him according to the census list. He was born about 1809 prob. in Va. He married Dec. 4, 1834 to Hannah H.R. Kuhn. Her father was Jacob Kuhn and mother was Elizabeth, maiden name unknown. They had 9 children. My gradfather on the Crouch side was well known in Grant County back in the early 1900's. His name was Earlie Otto Crouch. His wife's name was Eula Crouch, most people called her "Mom". He was a farmer, and he ran a saloon at Twin Bridges, by Eagle Creek on Route 22. He was probably known better for the saloon than anything. Most older people in Grant County can recall his saloon and probably visited it at one time or another. I have searched the Webster family back to John Webster, thanks to the women that researched and published the Webster Family Book, born about 1720 in Va. According to the book he died Aug., 1805 in Fayette Co., Ky. Members of his family later moved up into the Grant Co., Ky. area. I am from that line. His children are found in Fayette Co., others moved to Kenton Co., Clark Co., Grant Co., and some of their children moved on up into Ohio.
The other three lines of Websters in the book are believed to be John's brothers but the records burned up in Va. and they can't prove this point, but court records and lawsuits lead them to believe this point. Any help that you could give would be greatly appreciated.

HENRY AND BETSY ANN NORTON
I need to communicate with any and all descendants of Henry and Betsy Ann Norton of Pendleton and Grant Co., KY. They were married on/about 16 Aug 1812 in Pendleton Co., KY. Henry apparently(?) had a mill in the southern part of Grant Co. He died suddenly in Jan 1831. His family (widow and children) then move to Adams Co., IL about 1835. Need to know his birth info, parentage, details of why he died, etc. I am sure that there are descendants out there with this info that has been handed down through the family. Wish to know Henry's relationship to other Norton families in Grant, Pendleton, and Greenup Co., KY. Henry and Betsy had 5 or 6 sons, and three daughters. All answers will receive a reply." PERLINA GROVES
The only record I have of Perlina is her marriage bond to my great grandfather, Daniel Tucker Groves in 1874 in Grant County KY and a census listing in 1880 with Daniel and three children; Robert Lee, William and Annie.

A note from George Groves give his daughter, Perlina, permission to marry. As the Uncle of Daniel Tucker Groves is George Groves, I assume that Perlina is his cousin. George Groves was married to Rebecca McLain of Harrison County in 1850 and is listed with her and two children, William Noah Groves and Priscilla Groves (future wife of John Dunn) Perlina is not born until 1852. Rebecca died before 1860 and George Groves marries Mahala Wolfe daughter of Benjamine Wolfe. George is listed with his new wife Mahala in1860 and 1870 but does not have his children from Rebecca with him.

By 1898 Daniel Tucker Groves has relocated to Springfield, Illinois and he is listed as a widow. When he dies 13 years later, two of his children, Robert Lee and Annie are not listed as survivors and the mother of the other children is listed as Martha Dunn.

What happened to Perlian Groves and her two children Robert Lee and Annie? Was she truly the daughter of George Groves and Rebecca McLain? Did Daniel remarry a Martha Dunn who also died? Where is she buried? A fourth child, Julius Ceasar Groves was born to Daniel in 1889 in Clark Co. Was he the son of Perlina? Sandra Burbridge
