Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Woodford Co. EDWARD WAITS was born in Harrison County, Ky., February 24, 1810. He is the fourth son of John and Mary (McShane) Waits. His father was born in 1782, and came to Harrison County, Ky., when a small boy, followed farming, and died in 1855. Edward Waits was reared a farmer, and moved from Harrison to Woodford County in 1860, settling two miles west of Midway. To his marriage in January, 1835, to Miss Elizabeth, daughter of Henry and Rebecca (Morris) Parker, have been born nine children, eight of whom are living, viz.: Sarah, who was married to J. Van Deren, living in Harrison County, Ky, (they have six children--two daughter and four sons); Rebecca married to William A. Gillham, living in Scott County, Ill. (also has six children--two daughters and four sons); John F., who married Sarah McConnell, living in Scott County, Ky., has three little girls; Nannie J., married to Jesse McConnell, resides in Woodford County, Ky.; Mattie E., married to J. Champ, living in Scott County, Ky. (has six children--four daughters and two sons); Mary L., Henry P. and Willie E., at home with their father. Mrs. Elizabeth Waits died in 1871. Richard T., the youngest son, and the embodiment of all that is manly, soon followed. On the 29th of September 1875, Mr. Waits married Mrs. Catherine Batson. Mr. Waits, with his wife and children, is a member of the Christian Church. He owns 385 acres in Midway Precinct, and is a prosperous farmer.
