JOHNSON is a farmer and stock raiser, and owns 330 acres in Woodford County, where he was born May 4, 1837. He is the youngest son of Silas and Ann (Poor) Johnson, was reared a farmer, and was educated at the common schools of his county. His paternal grandfather was Robert Johnson, a native of Virginia. April 17, 1873, Samuel D. Johnson married Miss Lou Armstrong, a native of Mercer County, and a daughter of Dr. William and Helen (Sellers) Armstrong. To Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have been born five children as follows: Annie, Mary, Wallace, Helen and Ida. The parents, with their eldest daughter, Annie, are members of the Presbyterian Church.
