GUYN was born in Woodford County, December 17, 1834, and is the second son of John and Betsey (White) Guyn. John Guyn was born in Kentucky, and was a blacksmith by trade, but worked little at it, having devoted his attention to farming the greater part of his mature years. His father, Robert Guyn, was a native of Ireland. Joel W. Guyn was reared on the home farm. He has followed agricultural pursuits all his day, and is the owner of 225 acres of land in Clover Bottom Precinct. May 23, 1882, he married Katie, daughter of Isaac and Betsey (Gore) Davenport, and by her is the father of three children: Joel W., Isaac H. and John E.
