Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Woodford Co. DUDLEY CHILTON was born in Woodford County, February 6, 1836, and is the third son of Stephen and Nellie Chilton. The father, Stephen, was also a native of Kentucky, and the son of Stephen Chilton, of Virginia, and, with the exception of fourteen years in the mercantile business on Salt River, he was a farmer all his life. Dudley Chilton was reared on the home farm, and first engaged in business as purchasing agent for all kinds of country produce for his brother, Christopher, of Lexington, which position he filled two years, and then, for the next two years, ran the wagon on his own account, buying butter, eggs, chicken, etc. December 19, 1860, he married Miss Clemency, daughter of George and Lucy (Allen) Hall, of Woodford County, and this union has been blessed by two children: Mary M. (who married William Faircloth, and is the mother of two children: James A. and Luella) and Lucy A. (who married Charles Bonds, and is the mother of one child, Elmer Dudley). Mr. Chilton, wife and children are member of the Methodist Church South. He has, with the exception mentioned above, been a farmer all his life and now owns forty-two acres in Clover Bottom Precinct. [Since Dudley Chilton subscribed for this book he has departed this life. He received a kick from a horse December 31, 1886, from which he never recovered, and died March 9, 1887. He was buried in his orchard, according to his dying request. His death was greatly mourned by his wife, children, and a host of kind and loving friends, who were made to feel they had lost one whose steps could not be filled. He died owing no man a dollar. He led a pious life and was always ready and willing to lend the helping hand to those in need.] Chilton Allen Hall Faircloth Bonds = VA http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/woodford/chilton.d.txt
