Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, Whitley County William H. Parker, M.D., of Williamsburg, Whitley County, Ky., was born in Somerset, Pulaski County, Ky., September 28, 1849. His father, George W. Parker, was born in Todd County, Ky., August 4, 1814; he married Elizabeth A. Barry, a native of Nashville, Tenn., who was born November 24, 1815. They had seven children, viz: Daniel S., John G., James S., George R.D., Robert F., William H. and Henry T. George W. Parker is still living in Williamsburg. William H. Parker was reared and educated in Somerset. In 1869 he commenced the study of medicine under Dr. Thomas Welch, of Crab Orchard, Ky., and began practice in Laurel County in 1871. He soon after moved to Crab Orchard, where he remained for a while, and then located in Williamsburg. June 15, 1877, he married Miss Mattie J. Bowman, a daughter of Dr. Bowman, of Williamsburg. They are the parents of three children, viz; George M., Aro F. and Nellie. Dr. Parker is also engaged in mercantile business in Williamsburg. He is a member of the I.O.O.F., and a Democrat.
