Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, Wayne County E.A. Haynes, county judge of Wayne County, Ky., was born in that county, April 26, 1819, and is the third in a family of six living children born to John and Margarine (Adams) Haynes, viz: Elitle, Nancy, E. A., Matilda, Rebecca and Elinor. John Haynes, a native of Virginia, settled in Wayne County, Ky., in 1801; he was a farmer all his life, and died in June, 1859. He was a son of William Haynes, who was also a native of Virginia. Margarine (Adams) Haynes, a native of Kentucky, was a daughter of Isaac Adams. E.A. Haynes was educated at the common schools and has always been engaged in agricultural pursuits. He owns 400 acres of land six miles from Monticello. In 1851 he was appointed constable, in which capacity he served eleven years, and subsequently was deputy sheriff two years; he also served as magistrate twelve years. In 1878 he was elected county judge of Wayne County, and was re-elected in 1886. November 9, 1837, he married Fannie Russell, a daughter of Thomas and Polly (Daffron) Russell. Of the nine children born to their union, seven are living, viz: Serenic, Nancy, Ellanie, James K., George M., Elijah and Thomas. Judge Haynes and wife are members of the United Baptist Church.
