SILAS BOICOURT was born about 1790-1795 in Washington Co., the son and
youngest child of Jean-Marie Boicourt.  The surname Boicourt is also 
spelled Beaucour and Boiscourt.  Jean-Marie was born about 1750-1755, 
and located in Westmoreland Co., VA, moving to Washington County, KY, 
prior to the birth of our subject.  Jean-Marie and his wife had seven 
children: Edward, Anna Marie, Thomas L., Felix, Elizabeth Rose,
Samuel L., and Silas.  In 1811 Silas moved to Clark Co., IN, where on
August 1, 1811 he married his first wife, Anna Guest (born about 
1790-1795); they had no children.  His second wife was Catherine
Stonecypher, born 1801 in Jefferson Co., KY to Henry and Elizabeth
(Hoffheinz) Stonecypher.  Henry Stonecypher was born February 4, 1755,
believed to be in Niederscheiden, Germany, moving to Pennsylvania in 
1784, Kentucky in 1801, and to Indiana in 1841.  Henry and Elizabeth
(born 1766 in Germany) had nine children: John, Jacob, George, Henry 
Jr., Adam, Elizabeth, Catherine, Joseph, and David.

Silas Boicourt and Catherine Stonecypher were married December 28, 
1819 in Clark Co., IN, and had ten children: Margaret Ann (married 
John Allen Spear),  Silas Arthur (married Hester Newkirk, Elizabeth 
Ann Ferguson, and Mary A. Campbell), Joseph (married  Elizabeth Ann 
Ferguson, Martha Jane Sidener, Catherine Johnson, and Ellen Johnson), 
Elizabeth Jane (married John Jacobs), Samuel, David (married Ferilda 
J. Lewis), Catherine (married Richard Jefferson Drake), Martin 
Van Buren (married Ruby Ann Marts), John Charles (married Sarah 
Warner, Isabel M. Donaphan and Octavia M. Cassaday), and Naomi (also 
called Nancy, who married John Ferguson).  Silas and family moved to 
Monroe Co., IN in 1820, and settled in Bartholomew Co., IN, in 1842.
Silas died in about 1847 in Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana.  He was
a farmer.  Catherine (Stonecypher) Boicourt died in 1852 in Bartholomew
County, Indiana.
