Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. BLUFORD JACKSON MILLER was born January 15, 1819, in Warren County. His father, Adam Miller, was a native of Virginia, of Wythe County, and came to Kentucky when a young man. He married Miss Elizabeth Runner, whose parents were Virginians by birth, and later residents of Warren County, Kyk. Adam Miller was a farmer by occupation, and died in 1847. His family consisted of nine children, three of whom are yet living: Thomas, Margaret and Bluford J. Jacob Miller, the grandfather of Buford J., as of Dutch descent, and born in Virginia. He was a farmer and spent the later years of his life in Warren County, Ky. Bluford J. Miller passed the first years of his life on the farm where he was born, and in the old log schoolhouse on Ray's Branch learned the rudiments of the three R's; byond that his education is self-acquired and practical. He is a self-made man, started in life without pecuniary aid; managed his business successfully, and is now the proprietor of a fine farm of 300 acres of valuable land, one-third of which is under cultivation and well improved. He attributes much of his success in life to the help and encouragement of his wife, Catherine, to whom he was united in marriage December 28, 1848. She is a daughter of Samuel and Margaret Chastine, of Logan County, Ky. Mr. and Mrs. Miller are blessed in their union by the birth of eight sons and four daughters, ten of whom are living: Mary E., Robert G., Frank J., Elihu, Samuel A., Virginia, Elijah N., Thomas H., Joeseph E. and Ella J., all of whom are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which the parents are life-long members.
