Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. ROBERT J. P. MARSHALL (deceased) was born in Davidson County, Tenn., December 5, 1793, and was a son of John and Mary (Herald) Marshall. His parents came here when he was an infant, and located on the farm where his widow now lives. His father died when he was but fourteen years old, and he lived with and supported his mother as long as she lived. He served in the war of 1812 and was in the battle of New Orleans. He married, in 1840, Mary G. Stallcup, a daughter of John and Silvia Stallcup. They had four children; Joseph A., Melinda J., James A. and Mary E., all of whom are living. He was a physician of the botanical school, and was a Jackson Democrat in politics. He was a very pious man, a member of the Old School Presbyterian Church, and for many years held morning and evening service, calling all his negroes to attend. He was well educated, was quite wealthy, but lost nearly all in the late civil war. He died January 24, 1877. Mrs. Marshall, his widow, is a member also of the Old School Presbyterian Church.
