Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. ISAAC T. LEE was born March 27, 1839, in Allen County, Ky. When an infant he went with his parents to Missouri, where he remained until six years of age, when he returned to his former home, from whence, in 1858, he removed to Warren County, where he has since resided. He was a member during the late war of Company C, Fifty-second Kentucky Mounted Infantry, with which he served as second lieutenant for about sixteen months, for the greater part of which time he was on scout duty. His command was on several occasions opposed to the famous Gen. Morgan, but as Mr. Lee was one of a party detailed to blockade Pound's Gap, and moved on Morgan's rear, he was not in the battles. He was in a few skirmishes, but in no general engagements. His father, Daniel Lee, was born about 1909, also in the State of Kentucky. He was a farmer by occupation, a captain in the State militia, and a son of Isaac Lee, who was also a farmer, and of German descent. Daniel Lee married Juia E., daughter of Col. Thomas Sutton, of Allen County. From this union sprang William, Sarah E. (Hall), Isaac T., Nancy J. (Hall) and Dorinda (Schreus). Isaac T. married, March 6, 1866, Lucinda E., daughter of Easton and Mary A. (Hardcastle) Claypool. From this union sprang Mary E. and T. Barclay. Mr. Lee began life as a school teacher. In the year 1866 he commenced dealing in leaf tobacco, in which he engaged until 1867, when he began to farm, but still continued his tobacco business. In 1873 he began merchandising in connection with his other work. He has by industry and frugality become the owner of over sixty acres of tillable land in good condition, besides a partnership in a well stocked store and a tobacco factory - both located on his farm. He has been, since 1876, postmaster at Claypool; is a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church, and in politics was originally a Douglas Democrat, but is now a Republican.
