KIRBY, who is one of live and active young men of Warren County, was born May 16, 1852, seven miles south of Bowling Green, and is a son of David and Lydia (Bohannon) Kirby. He was reared on a farm, and having a love of fine horses, at the age of twenty-three commenced life for himself, and at twenty-four turned his attention to the breeding and rearing of fancy stock, which he has continued with marked success ever since. He has the reputation of having the finest roadsters and saddle horses in southern Kentucky, and generally carries off the first premium at stock shows in Warren and adjoining counties. He is also a buyer and trainer of horses. He lives on a beautiful farm of 110 acres, about two miles north of Smith Grove, well improved with fine buildings. December 21, 1880, he married Mary J. Hall, of Warren County, a daughter of Joseph H. and Hattie (Hines) Hall, and there has been born to him one son, Hugh. Mr. and Mrs. Kirby are members of the Presbyterian and Methodist Episcopal Churches, respectively, and in politics Mr. Kirby is a Democrat.
