IVEY KEETH, an active and progressing farmer, was born in January, 1844, in the southeast part of Edmonson County, Ky., and is the fifth of four sons and five daughters, all of whom lived to be grown, born of John and Mary (Edwards) Keeth. John Keeth was born July 20, 1818, in Wayne County, Ky., and was a prosperous farmer of Edmonson County. In 1856 he came to Warren County, and in 1866 located near Barren River, in the southeast part, on 250 acres of land, of which he has sold and given away till he now owns but sixty acres. After his removal to Warren County he was ordained to preach in the United Baptist Church. He is a son of Daniel and Juda (Kennedy) Keeth, natives of Louisa County, Va., who had four sons and seven daughters, and who immigrated to Wayne County, Ky., as early as 1810; about 1828 Daniel located in Edmonson County, where he remained till his death in 1872, aged eighty-five years; he was a son of William Keeth of Virginia. The mother of Ivey Keeth was born in Virginia and a daughter of Ivey and Phebe (Gardner) Edwards. Mrs. Phebe Edwards had married four times. Ivey Keeth was reared on a farm and received a good common English education. In October, 1863, he enlisted in Company I, Fifty-second Kentucky Infantry, and was in all engagements in which the regiment participated. In a skirmish at Hopkinsville, he was wounded in the left arm; he was discharged in March, 1865, at Bowling Green, when he returned to his home and engaged in farming and trading in stock. He located where he now resides, one mile south of Three Forks, on seventy-five acres of land, but now owns 170 acres, which he has improved and embellished with good substantial buildings. April 19, 1866, he married Jennie Finney, of Warren County, a daughter of John and Lucinda (Thomas) Finney. To this union have been born eight children, seven living: John H., Addie, Clay, Enchide, Emit, Samuel E. and William L. Mr. and Mrs. Keeth are members of the Baptist Church. In politics Mr. Keeth is a Republican and cast his first presidential vote for Blaine.
