WALLER B. HILL was born in Bowling Green Precinct, Warren County, February
2, 1857.  He is the youngest of three sons born to E. W. and Susan
(Potter) Hill, and is of English extraction.  He was reared on the farm
and educated at the country schools and Warren College, from which he
graduated with the degree of B. A. in 1876.  In the fall of that year he
entered the law department of the University of Virginia.  In 1877 he went
to Ann Arbor, Mich., and completed his law studies at the University of
Michigan, receiving his degree of B. LL. in 1878.  Subsequently he
returned to Bowling Green and engaged in the practice of his profession;
then accepted the position of deputy circuit court clerk.  In 1882 he went
to Kansas and for some time was engaged in the cattle business.  Returning
to Bowling Green in 1883, he engaged in the grocery and agricultural
implement business, the latter of which he continued till 1885, when he
accepted a position in the banking-house of P. J. Potter & Co.  His
marriage took place November 13,1883, with Sallie L. Wooten, daughter of
Joseph and Ann Wooten.  They have one child - J. Prentice.  Mr. Hill is a
Democrat, a member of the I. O. O. F, and with his wife a member of the
Baptist Church.
