Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. JAMES M. GILLMORE was born November 16, 1849, in Warren County, Ky., where he has since resided. His father, James L. Gillmore, was born about 1806 in Montgomery County, KY. He was a farmer, a member of the Methodist Church and of Irish descent; he was married, about 1835, to Rebecca, daughter of Lewis Hanes. From this union sprang five sons and six daughters, of whom James M. is the seventh child. James M. was married, Novembr 1, 1877, to Mary C., daughter of William and Amanda M. (Glasscock) Nanney, of Allen County, near Butlersville. To them have been born William D. (deceased), Lucian and Clarence. Mr. Gillmore, by industry and frugality, has become of owner of 400 acres of well improved and productive land in a high state of cultivation. He is a member, with his wife, of the Methodist Church, to which he has belonged for about fifteen years; he is also a member of the I. O. O.
