Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. P. FLEMING is a native of Ireland, born in 1847, and a son of Michael and Mary Fleming. At about the age of four years he came to America with his parents, and settled in Louisville, Ky., where he remained ten years, and then came to Bowling Green, and here has since resided. The father of Mr. Fleming died in New York City in 1852, soon after his arrival in this country. At fourteen years of age Mr. Fleming began serving a three years' apprenticeship at the tinner's trade, under P. Jones. In 1862 he engaged in business in Bowling Green, in partnership with his brother, J. G. Fleming, who died in August, 1883. The firm was conducted under the name of J. G. Fleming, and as such continued until the death of that gentleman, when P. Fleming purchased the interest of his brother, and has since continued the business. Mr. Fleming has always on hand a most complete stock of all kinds of stoves, queensware, and goods in his line; he also manufactures tinware; he has in his employ eight persons. He married, in 1874, Mollie Powers, a native of Ohio. To this union have been born three children, viz.: Joseph, Mary and Alice. He is a successful business man, and a member of the Democratic party.
