Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. THOMAS R. DICKERSON, eldest child of A. C. and Mary J. (Rogers) Dickerson, was born October 18, 1840, in Bowling Green, Ky. His maternal grandfather, Thomas Rogers, of Spottsylvania County, Va., came to Warren County at an early day and settled on Drake's Creek, about ten miles east of Bowling Green. He preferred the timber to the prairie, but later finding the prairie the best land, he located two and one-half miles southeast of Bowling Green on 400 acres. He was a large slave holder, and died about 1855 aged about eighty-six year. Thomas R. Dickerson as reared on a farm, educated at Danville College, and at twenty-one commenced life for himself at farming, which he has since followed. December 2, 1862, he married Kate Huey, of Pendleton County, Ky. Eight children were born to their union: Otaway A., Mary A., Thomas E., Charles Rodgers, Frank Hall, Ruby Bell, William Lesley and Kate Bird. Mrs. Dickerson is a daughter of Frank C. and Susan (Sturn) Huey. They were natives, respectively, of the State of Ohio and Harrison County, Ky., and of English origin. After marriage Mr. Dickerson located two and one-half miles southeast of Bowling Green, on 120 acres of fine land, improved with a substantial residence, etc. He and wife are members of the Presbyterian Church; he is a Democrat, and cast his first presidential vote for Douglas in 1860.
