Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. D. H. CHAPMAN was born February 18, 1852, and is a native of Warren County. He is a son of D. S. and Nancy C. (McMurray) Chapman; the former was a native of this State and devoted his attention to agricultural pursuits. D. H. Chapman was reared on the farm and received but a limited education, mostly at "Cedar Bluff" Academy. After arriving at manhood he engaged for a time in merchandising at the cross roads in Logan County, known as Corinth. He then returned to Warren County and in 1877 married Mittie, who is a daughter of Robert B. Bass, of this county, but a native of Virginia, and who was educated at Cedar Bluff. He shortly after his marriage bought the place where he now resides, and which consists of over 200 acres of choice land, well improved. Mr. and Mrs. Chapman have had three children - the first died in infancy; Wiley W. and Robert C. are still living. Mr. Chapman and wife are members of the Baptist Church.
