Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Warren County. O. C. CARSON is a native of Butler County, Ky., born in 1816. He is the fourth in a family of seven children born to William and Nancy (Porter) Carson, and is of Irish descent. His grandfather was Thomas Carson, a native of Ireland, who came to America about 1765, and settled in Baltimore, Md., where he remained a short time and then moved to Virginia. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary war. His father was born in Virginia, and came to Kentucky in 1805, and settled in what was then Logan County, where he died in 1852. Mr. Carson was reared on the farm and remained at home until 1843; then removed to Warren County and engaged in farming. He first settled in the northern part of the county, where he remained six years and then removed four miles south of Bowling Green where he remained until 1866, when he came to Bowling Green and here has since resided. Politically Mr. Carson is a Democrat. In 1871 he was elected justice of the peace, and was re-elected in 1876, again in 1879 and the last time in 1883. He was elected treasurer of the sinking fund in 1872, and this office he still retains. The marriage of Mr. Carson was solemnized in 1842 with M. E., daughter of R. B. and Mary (Hines) Collins. To this union have been born five children: Alice, E., Mary P. and Dr. James O., living. Mr. Carson was made a Mason in 1852. He and wife are members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
