[Unknown county] DANIEL VOILES. 1858. He is the son of William Voiles who was a farmer and school teacher, who came from East Tennessee and settled in the old tenth district about sixty years ago. His mother, Elizabeth (Goddard) Voiles, was a native of Ohio. Daniel was born in the old twelfth district. He was married to Lyda Hopkins, of Kentucky, in 1880. He was elected as a member of the first County Board of Education in Fentress, and was twice re-elected. While a member of the board he identified himself with every move for school improvement that was made by the board. Before the expiration of his third term he resigned to accept the position of Superintendent of the Poor.
