WILLIAM GRIMSLEY was among the early preachers in Stocktons Valley.  He
was of German extraction, and was held in high esteem by his co-laborers. 
He was active and zealous, in connection with Isaac Denton and Lewis
Ellison, in raising up the early churches in Stocktons Valley.  Sometime
after the year 1825, he removed to Illinois, where he labored in the
minstry till the Master called him home.
