Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 1887, Unknown Co. JOHN C. BROWN, the noted stockman of Kentucky, is a son of A. C. and Elizabeth (Huston) Brown. A. C. represented this county in the Legislature one term. He died July 15, 1881. Our subject and his brother, Sam, are partners in the stock business. Sam makes his headquarters in New York City and Philadelphia, and John C. buys cattle all over Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee, and ships same to Sam, who disposes of them. Both gentlemen were educated in the best schools. They are very successful traders, and their success is due to their stanch adherence to principle, their energy, accuracy and thorough performance of every duty. They are generous, unselfish and thoroughly amiable in disposition. Both are members of the Masonic fraternity, and both are unmarried. John C. and his mother reside on the old homestead of about 400 acres. Brown Huston = NY PA http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/unknown/brown.jc.txt
