D., came from Scotland and settled in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He maried Eleanor Monroe, sister of Vice President James Monroe, and had issue - William, James, Eleanor, Jane, and Dr. John. Dr. John married Mary Warner Lightfoot (nee Lewis) and had Charles, Lewis, John, Eleanor, Monroe, and William. Charles Lewis (son of Dr. John) married first Ann Carey Randolph and had John, Thomas Mann, Eleanor, William. His second wife was Mary Ann Carthrea - who bore him one child - Charles Lewis Bankhead, of Orange County, Virginia. John, the second son of Dr. John married Elizabeth Stuart, and had Mary (who married Wallace and settled near Shelbyville, Kentucky); second, Rosalie (who married Lucian Dade and settled in Hopkinsville, Kentucky); third, Eleanor Monroe (who married Dr Phillip Thornton and died childless); fourth, Dr. William married Dorathea, daughter of Gabriel Minor, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and had issue. First, Georgianna, who married William Moncure, of Stafford County, Virginia; second, Mary Warner, who married Charles Lewis Bankhead, of Orange County, Virginia; third, Bettie, who married Bickoton L. Winston, of Hanover County, Virginia; fourth, Eleanor Monroe, married Jacquelin Meredith, of Stafford County, Virginia; fifth, Rosalie Stuart, married first Richard Winston, of hanover, and second Capt. Harry Selden; sixth, Leonora, married John Mason Lee, of Stafford. John Taliaferro married Eliza Saunders, daughter of Dr. S. H. Saunders, of Missouri, and had first, Mary Minor, married John G. Banks, of Henderson, Kentucky; second, Rosalie Shields Bankhead of Virginia. John Bankhead, son of Charles Lewis and Ann Cary Randolph, married Elizabeth White, of Virginia, and had first, Carey; second, Arch; third, Martha. He and his descendants live in Louisiana, Missouri. Thomas Mann, second son of Charles Lewis, died childless. William, third son, married Elizabeth Garth and had two daughters. He married three times and lived in Alabama. Charles Lewis, son of Charles Lewis by second marriage, has no issue.
