Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Trimble Co. FRANK S. WRIGHT is a native of Henry County, and was born near New Castle, November 30, 1838, the fifth of seven children born to John and Catherine (Vanhorne) Wright, natives, respectively, of Virginia and Pennsylvania. John was the son of Frank and Sarah (Harderick) Wright, natives of Virginia but among the first settlers of Kentucky. Catherine Vanhorne was the daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Kennedy) Vanhorne, natives of Pennsylvania. Samuel Vanhorne was born in May, 1750, was a soldier in the Revolution and died October 25, 1850, being over one hundred years old. He came to Kentucky at an early date, and settled in Henry County. John Wright was reared and educated in Virginia. He learned the carpenter's trade when quite young, and followed the same all his life. He moved with his parents to Kentucky, where he remained in Henry County until 1839, when he moved to Trimble County, and settled near where our subject now resides. He was drowned in the Little Kentucky River March 30, 1850. His widow died about October 13, 1880. Franks S. Wright came to Trimble County in infancy, where he was reared and educated. He has always been engaged in farming, and settled where he now resides, near Winona, in 1875, and owns upward of 240 acres of land. November 8, 1866, he married Nancy E. Glass, daughter of Gabriel and Mary (Handlon) Glass, natives of Kentucky and Indiana, but who resided in Trimble County. To this union were born one daughter and six sons: John L., Robert L., Daniel, Bertha, James W. and twins who died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Wright are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He is a member of the F. & A. M. and of the I.O.O.F. and K of P. Politically he is a Democrat.
