Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Trimble Co. GEORGE W. PEAK, son of Thomas and Harriet (Walker) Peak, was born in Trimble County, Ky., June 8, 1828, and is now a prominent merchant at Bedford, where he has been in business about thirteen years. In 1859 and 1860 he was deputy sheriff under his brother, and in 1862 he volunteered in Col. Giltner's Fourth Kentucky Cavalry, and served until the close of the war. He then kept a hotel at Campbellsburg, Henry County. He has a half interest in 500 acres of land in Trimble County, and follows agriculture in conjunction with his mercantile business. He was first married to Miss Catherine, a daughter of Robert Meade, and a native of Trimble. She died in 1858, the mother of one child, Thomas. He next married Frances Douglass, a native of New York, who has borne him three children: Mary, Harry and Hattie.
