Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Trimble Co. DR. WILLIAM R. LOVE was born in Virginia, May 6, 1833, the second of ten children born to Madison and Theressa N. (Love) Love. His father is a native of Washington County, Va., and a minister of the Christian Church. He moved to Kentucky in 1871 and located in Trimble County, where he still resides. Our subject was reared and educated in Virginia. After completing his studies he went to Illinois and taught school until 1864, when he took up the study of medicine under Drs. Fitch and Cooper, in Illinois, and later attended the medical school in St. Louis, Mo. Subsequently he practiced his profession in Greene County, Ill., for a few years, but his health failed, and he returned his attention to farming pursuits. In 1871 he moved to Kentucky and located in Trimble County, where he now resides, and owns 150 acres of valuable land near Bedford. In 1871 he married Martha A. Penn, daughter of Henry and Adelia Penn, of Trimble County, and descendants of William Penn. To Mr. and Mrs. Love four children were born: Elizabeth, Robert, Madison and Lillie L.
